What OMRON Connect does

OMRON Connect is the software layer for compatible OMRON blood-pressure monitors and selected scales, thermometers, and EKG products. With a supported Bluetooth device, it can sync readings, keep an unlimited history, display trends, and let you share information with a clinician, caregiver, or family member. The current app-store descriptions also mention activity, sleep, weight, BMI, medication, and other health tracking, although the available data depends on the devices and services you connect. OMRON’s US compatibility page says the app supports most smartphones running iOS 17 or later or Android 11 or later; tablets may install it but are not the optimized experience. The Apple listing separately says iOS 16 or later, so check the live compatibility list and your app store before relying on either minimum. Most importantly, OMRON Connect does not take the blood-pressure measurement itself. The reading originates with the monitor and cuff. The app’s graphs can make a record easier to understand and share, but they are not diagnostic and should not be used alone to make treatment decisions. Clinical interpretation and changes to blood-pressure care belong with a licensed clinician.

  • Unlimited history, trends, sharing, and basic reports
  • Optional connections to services such as Apple Health or other supported health platforms

Pricing, features, and practical limits

OMRON offers free and Premium versions. Its official comparison gives free users a basic health report, detailed history, and integration with other health apps. Premium adds detailed reports with health insights, medication reminders, a care-team feature, historical EKG data, and rewards, with a 30-day trial advertised on OMRON’s site. The current US App Store lists BP Premium at $9.99 per month but shows both $84.99 and $98.99 annual BP entries. Because the official product page does not provide one definitive subscription price, confirm the amount and renewal terms shown inside your app before purchase. EKG and combined BP-plus-EKG plans have separate prices. Hardware is not included. Compatible monitor prices vary; as one current reference, OMRON lists the validated, app-compatible BP7465 at a $110 MSRP. The main limitation is dependence on the full workflow: your exact monitor must be supported, Bluetooth must sync reliably, and the report format must be useful to the person reviewing it. Free history and basic reporting may be enough if you only need a log. Premium is more relevant if you will consistently use reminders, deeper reports, or care-team tools. Feature availability may also vary by device, country, and operating system.

  • A compatible OMRON device is a separate purchase
  • Free features cover the core logging workflow
  • Verify current subscription pricing and trial-renewal terms in the app store

Measurement accuracy and validation

Choose the monitor first and the app second. ValidateBP lists specific OMRON models that have passed its independent review criteria, including app-compatible products such as the BP7465 and BP7900. A familiar brand name or OMRON Connect compatibility does not establish that every model is validated. Compare the full model number on your device with the current listing. ValidateBP’s criteria include active FDA clearance, independent testing under an accepted protocol, and appropriate cuff sizing. FDA records likewise attach clearance to particular devices. For example, the FDA’s BP4350 summary describes OMRON Connect as an optional feature for displaying and archiving readings, not as a diagnostic or measurement function. The American Heart Association recommends an automatic, validated upper-arm cuff monitor for most people, with a cuff that fits your measured arm circumference. It recommends five minutes of quiet rest, bare skin, supported back and feet, an arm supported at heart level, and two readings one minute apart. Wrist devices are generally less preferred, even though some validated wrist models may be appropriate when an upper-arm cuff is unsuitable. Ask a clinician or pharmacist which model and cuff fit your circumstances. An app log can support a clinical conversation, but it cannot diagnose hypertension or determine medication, diet, or exercise changes.

  • Check the exact monitor model on ValidateBP
  • Confirm that the cuff covers your arm circumference
  • Use consistent technique and discuss concerning patterns with a clinician
The app organizes readings; it does not independently measure blood pressure or establish that your monitor is accurate.

Privacy and who it fits

This app can handle sensitive information. Apple’s label says health and fitness data, contact information, user content, identifiers, usage data, and sensitive information may be collected and linked to you; diagnostics may be collected without being linked to you. Google Play says the Android app may collect location, personal information, and five additional data categories, encrypts data in transit, allows deletion requests, and declares no third-party sharing under Google’s definition. OMRON’s US privacy policy, last updated in 2021, is broader: it describes collecting blood pressure, heart rate, EKG, medications, health history, weight, sleep, activity, device identifiers, usage, and permitted location data. It also describes disclosures to vendors, analytics providers, designated health apps, studies you join, and—in some circumstances—third parties for their services or marketing. These disclosures use different definitions and are not directly interchangeable. The policy says account deletion can be requested through OMRON, although some information may be retained. OMRON Connect is a reasonable fit if you accept that data footprint and value convenient syncing. Look elsewhere—or use your monitor’s local memory and a simple offline log—if you want minimal cloud exposure, do not own a compatible device, need a multi-user workflow the app cannot clearly separate, or want diagnostic guidance rather than recordkeeping.

  • Review permissions before linking Apple Health or another platform
  • Deleting the app may not delete the associated account or retained data
  • Re-check the privacy policy because the linked US policy is dated 2021

Common questions

Does OMRON Connect measure blood pressure by itself?

No. A compatible monitor and cuff produce the measurement. The app stores, displays, and shares the resulting data.

Is every OMRON monitor validated because it works with the app?

No. Compatibility and validation are separate. Check the complete model number on ValidateBP and confirm that the cuff fits you.

Do you need Premium to keep a useful blood-pressure log?

Not necessarily. OMRON currently assigns basic reports, detailed history, and health-app integration to the free tier. Premium is mainly for added insights, reminders, care-team tools, EKG history, and rewards.
